Commencement set for May 15 through May 22 at Rolfe Pocahontas Havelock-Plover and Gilmore City Bradgate schools. Speeches by local educators and class speakers, with seniors chosen flowers colors and mottos. Senior trips planned and awards nights announced.
Nearly 300 attendees filled the Rolfe School gym Tuesday for the Rolfe High School All Sports Banquet honoring the Rams and Rammettes. Bernard Cooper of the University of South Dakota spoke as seniors received plaques and the gym’s staff and supporters were thanked for their roles.
The National Guild of Piano Teachers Auditions were held May 4 at the Vincent House in Fort Dodge with about 130 students. Agnes Reckard’s five students earned ratings including Catherine Johnson Superior, Kay Anderson Superior Minus, Melissa Bennett Superior Minus, Dawn Mann Excellent Plus, and Jack De Wolf Excellent Plus under judge Thelma Schwarzing.
Rolfe City Council meeting on May 4 adjourned early due to tornadic weather. Mayor Pat Wood presided as Harold Peterson reported storms while several council members and attendees participated. actions included approving minutes and reports, building permits, and transferring Federal Revenue Sharing funds to street improvements.
A musical program titled Musical Evening With Lil featuring Miss Syliss Athens as Vocal Music Director will be held Saturday evening May 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Walcott Activity Center at Gilmore City High School. Proceeds benefit Music Camp Students.
