Rolfe Junior high basketball team opened the county tournament last Thursday night with a 26 to 16 victory over Pocahontas. Priday night Rolfe and Ware competed for the championship with Rolfe prevailing 27 to 16. Also noted a local boy, Pfe Arnold Landvig, was set to sail last week for a year’s advisory overseas assignment and returned home.
Marie White Evelyn Brock represented Rolfe school at the County Spelling Contest in Pocahontas last Friday. Barbara Melson of Morning Side College plans to travel to Houston Texas to join the Phi Kappa Delta national convention debate team. The Rolfe Promotion Club met with Excelsior Society hosting lunch in the Central States display room. Rolfe High basketball squad attended as guests of W D Hauck and C B Bowen. An intruder entered the Legion Hall in Havelock.
A 1926 Plover Iowa city election ended smoothly with 340 ballots cast. Mrs Ey B Wilcox suffered severe burns from boiling lard, A W Hess received 500 baby chicks by parcel post, and farmers show strong spring interest in fluffs. Robert Kent and Ross Wilson attended ceremonies in Des Moines with Gov Hammill and Knights of Pythias members.
