Havelock Happenings Show Local Visits and Bridge Club

Mr and Mrs Gordon Leigh and Chester Schallan attended business in Fort Dodge on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs Henry Joens from Plover neighborhood visited Havelock Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Ray Grover and G J Corbett handled business in Laurens Monday. A dozen Bridge Club ladies were entertained at the home of Mrs Dale Wil.

Rebekahs Host Card Party at I O O F Hall

Ten tables filled with 500 players last Thursday at the Rebekahs card party after the lodge session. In the women’s division J M Ralle won high score with Mary Cope as consolation. George Waters took the traveling prize. Eldon Buck won men’s high score. Chet Schallan received the booby prize. St Patrick’s motif carried through scores and decorations. Birthday Honoring M. Gehrt Marked by Family Party

Mrs. C. R. Smith hosted a birthday gathering at her home Sunday honoring her father M. Gehrt on his 94th birthday anniversary. A noon two course dinner followed by afternoon card games and visiting led to a cafeteria supper. Attendees included Mr and Mrs. Smith and others.

Obituary of Russell Cyrus Perry

Russell Cyrus Perry son of Mr and Mrs C B Perry was born near Laurens March 30 1919 and died at University Hospital Iowa City aged 14 years 11 months and 3 days. He moved to Havelock at age four and lived there since. He was a Havelock student a sophomore and basketball team member. He enjoyed outdoor sports and was fond of the country. He leaves his parents four brothers Howard Jimmy Thomas and Donald a sister Lola two grandfathers and grandmothers and many relatives. Funeral services were held at the M E church Laurens with Rev C L Day delivering the sermon. Doris Young of Havelock sang My Peace I Give Unto You. School officials attended. Interment followed in Laurens cemetery.

Boysen Family Reunion Draws Wide Kin Group

In a sizeable gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Boysen Sunday all their children and families attended except daughter Anna Chapel. The occasion marked the first large family reunion in six years. Attendees included Byron Boysen of Cedar Rapids, Jesse and daughter of Sioux City, Roy Boysen of Rapid City, S D, Harry Boysen and family, W. C. Boysen and William, and Louis Boysen.

George Dyiig Re elected To Havelock School Board

George Dyiig, longtime member of the Havelock Consolidated Schools board, was re elected for a three year term in the district election held Monday. Only 193 votes were cast with Dyiig winning 124 and Arthur Johnson 61 as the runner up.

Pocahontas County Supervisors Approve Local Appointments

Pocahontas County Iowa board in regular session February 20 1934 approved Geo A Helmer as Bellville township justice of the peace and official bonds for Helmer Vial and Margarete Harder. The meeting included members Hudek Jensen Ferguson Fitzgerald and Fischer with no absentees. A resolution offered by Ferguson and seconded by Fischer was considered and adopted after formal action.

Pocahontas County Board Adopts 1924 CWA Funds Allocation

Officials approve transferring 50.00 to Civil Works Administration 17.70 to Court House Project and 26.25 to County Farm Project all for Pocahontas County Iowa. Board also lists audited claims and confirms March 18 1924 bid time for material supplies.
