Electric Wiring for Farm and Home Meetings Planned

Harold H. Beaty of the extension service will speak at two Pocahontas county meetings on March 17. The 1:30 p m session at Pocahontas courthouse will cover electric wiring for the farm and home with film slides. Laurens school at 7:30 p m will host a second presentation. Farmers interested in rural electrification are urged to attend.

Pocahontas REA Seeks Members To Build Highline

County Agent Schmuecker urges Pocahontas county farmers along the proposed highline route to join the REA cooperative now. Joining grants eligibility for REA loans covering wiring costs and patronage dividends, while limiting personal liability to a monthly electrical fee. A $95,000 construction loan has been granted, with further loans planned for July 1.

Sinning to Sing on WGN With Dubuque Choir Tour

Arthur Sinning son of Rev H A Sinning of Rolfe will sing over WGN Chicago with the University of Dubuque a cappella choir as part of a midwest tour. The group plans appearances in over 20 cities from March 11 to March 26 with a Saint Louis broadcast in the works.

More than 4,000 people attended machinery and repair demonstrations during 1936. The estimate comes from Byron T. Virtue, extension specialist in agricultural engineering at Iowa State College.

Last Friday a R. H. S. Arrowlet pep assembly showcased a country school skit set in a hill-billy locale with characters such as Teacher Winifred Brinkman Zeke Donald Nelson and Maggie Eloise Brinkman. The program included a tap dance to School Days and a chorus of school yells.

Fonda Kamvar and Plover win district girls tourney pace

In a three day district girls basketball tournament at Plover the Fonda team defeated Kamvar and Paton to secure a Des Moines state bid. Kamvar beat Paton 52 31 and Fonda beat Paton 48 25 before a final 44 34 Fonda victory over Kamvar. Co captains accepted the trophy from referee Mr. Bootman.
