Plover Wins Out in State Sectional Cage Tourney
The State Sectional Basketball Tournament drew 930 buyers with 238 cars at the Plover school as 23 teams competed across Class A and B. Plover, Mallard, Storm Lake, and Spirit Lake advanced, with prizes awarded to Plover and Mallard for strong showings.

A large group of Plover residents aged forty to seventy attended a high school pep meeting Monday at the school. They cheered declamation, orchestra, band, glee clubs, and basketball while praising student effort and school spirit. Speakers included S. T. Grove Pat Heathman Dick DuBoise Geo Shaw Elwood Garlock and Mrs. J H Pollock. The girls travel to Havelock for the state sectional tournament and the boys to Spirit Lake for the district tourney.

Farm Debate To Be Promoted In County
Farm Bureau offers two medals for the state wide debate on funding local schools by the state. Debate has occurred in four townships. A trophy is offered by Mrs. F. K. Hawley of Laurens for the winning team. A debate committee will arrange the events with further notices next week.

The Prayer Methodist Episcopal Church led by Pastor C. J. Pocahontas County Placed in Modified Area Under Hog Certificates
Friday, March 2, Secretary Thorn announced Pocahontas County is designated a modified area by the U S Department of Agriculture. Packers will pay a ten percent premium on hog shipments from the modified area, with certificates available at local banks to aid livestock shippers. Around twenty carloads were shipped last Saturday, boosting the premium to about 3091 dollars.
