Keeping Mites Out of Poultry Yards with Coal Tar Products
The Iowa State College poultry department urges using carbolenium, flykill, or similar coal tar products on roosts, dropping boards, and adjacent walls to curb red mite infestations. Apply when birds are out for two to three days or dilute with kerosene, wipe surfaces, and dry completely before reintroducing stock.
