Twenty years ago Mrs Ed Hoard slipped on ice Saturday afternoon about four o'clock breaking her left arm above the wrist and splintering the bone in three places. Mr and Mrs Herb Jones purchased a Boxholm grocery store and started business Monday. Ray Smith returned to Rolfe Monday from the Lutheran hospital at Fort Dodge and is recovering at the George Smith home. Mr and Mrs Roy Mentzer of Burbank California attending the funeral of Mrs Mentzer's mother Mrs Anna Ryen remain two or three weeks visiting relatives and friends. Mrs Maude Brigham who suffered a heart attack Saturday is much improved. An accident Saturday left a bad gash and a broken tooth. After discharge from the navy on January 9 at Great Lakes David Kipfer M M M home after 84 years of service in the north Atlantic patrol.
Ten years ago Earl Ives and family received a call from their son Elwyn in Columbia Mo. about a promotion at Missouri Agric Company. Neighbors and friends hosted a surprise party for Mrs. Lee Harmon in the home of B E Strithers. Rolfe Rockets played best ball of the season defeating Manson Jr High 45 to 22 with Pat Calligan scoring 15 and leading rebounds, fifth win against one loss.
Mrs Minnie Jarvis hosts friends for an evening with several Chinese checkers games and refreshments. Mrs C B Chapman attends Pollyana club luncheon at Bradgate, helps organize in 1917. Jens Thompson leaves for Des Moines for Republican caucus and state legislature. Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid meets with over 40 attendees. David Henderson hosts Nain Lutheran Bible study. Arthur Bendixon takes sister Irene to Fort Dodge for medical cast removal.
Thirty years ago thermometers read ten to twenty degrees below zero Wednesday morning as residents noted the extreme cold. Herbert Barrett Jr of Cariste aided with work on the Clarence Jensen farm while Rolfe youths enjoyed coasting on a hill at Ed Wilcox's pasture in the northeast town area.

The regular monthly meeting of the conservation district commissioners approved new farm planning aid for Kenneth O Donnell Garfield Township 160 A and Dan and Helen Figgina Des Moines Township 160 A. Commissioner James DeWolf is recovering from a heart attack. Chairman G Donald Trenary, Pocahontas County SCD commissioners, was named Regional Chairman of the Iowa Association of SCD Commissioners, succeeding Grant Nesheim who died in a recent auto crash.
Bradgate News W S G met Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Mrs Karen Zeman and Mrs Betty Maupin as hostesses. Mrs Gertie Brandhoij presided as V P. Devotions and lesson led by Mrs Leola Wallace. A new Bible Study started led by Mrs Esther Curry. Rev Alva Caldwell to lead six Bible studies on Acts each Wednesday at 7 30 starting this week. Mr and Mrs Delmar Johnson and children visited the George Curry home near Rutland Sunday. Mr Hans Isacson visited Mrs Sarina Kjeer at Sissons Nursing Home in Humboldt Wednesday. Mrs H C Olson attended the
Funeral of Mrs Eastman held in Hum Doldt Friday. Attendees included Chris Bovexieen and Hans Taacson among others. Numerous relatives and guests from Gilmore Cuy, Estherville, Swea City, Humboldt, Clarion attended social gatherings and open house events surrounding the service and related anniversaries.
