Iowa Food Stamp Program Boosts Farmers and Dealers
At the end of fiscal year 1976 about 112000 low income Iowa residents received food stamp assistance. USDA reports bonus stamps worth over 30 million dollars aided Iowa purchases and boosted farmers incomes through higher food sales. The program increased cash receipts for farmers and kept the farmers share of the retail cost of the food basket near 40 cents per dollar.
