Iowa farmers weigh 1965 feed grain program prospects
Extension economists at Iowa State University say most farmers will likely profit from the voluntary 1965 feed grain program though per acre base and yield conditions may limit participation. Price supports rise to 20 cents per bushel with a $1.25 national base price and a $1.05 loan rate. Participation requires signing up and diverting at least 20 percent of the feed grain base, with higher payments for larger diversions, and substitutions between feed grains and wheat are allowed with both programs. Signups run February 8 through March 26 at local ASC offices.
