A 25 year franchise for Iowa Electric Light & Power Co. was approved by 78 of 90 votes at a special city election. Community activities cover Christmas programs, Sunshine club party, and church meetings with several residents traveling or visiting relatives.
Mr and Mrs Cecil Bartley of Laurens visited Tuesday in the home of their daughter Des mond Crotty and family where they attended a school program with their grandson. The Community Chest drive proceeds with several ladies aiding and telephone work updates include new cables installed recently. Axel Carlson bought a small house from Mrs Rheinhart and moved it near the blacksmith shop. his house and garage were destroyed by fire. Mrs Adrian Logan accompanied Des Moines relatives to Spencer to visit his sister Mrs Myrtle Woodard, a surgical patient moved to a Rockwell City nursing home. Eugene Boyson stationed in Edenton NC will receive Christmas visit from parents after his leave. Last rites for 82 year old Milt Millhorn were held at Pocahontas with burial in Summit Hill cemetery. he had lived with the J L Lanus family and earlier in Havelock. Mrs Sylvia Knutson, Mrs Mary Hawke and Mrs Irma Stiles of Des Moines, all Adrian’s nieces, visited here Tuesday.
