Pocahontas Group Elects Officers. 4-H Plans Highlight December
Pocahontas Sacred Heart society re elected J J Ryan as president for 1958 with Mrs Francis Eichler as vice president. Other officers include Mrs Virgil Kaiser secretary and Mrs W W Hudek treasurer. About 85 members attended the December meeting in Holy Name hall. Activities included Advent program by Pocahontas Catholic school seventh and eighth graders and a 1025 pound clothing drive. A Pittsburgh Milwaukee birth and nursing notes finish the item. Plans for the county wide 4 H recognition night will be discussed December 14 with extension staff assistance. New nurse members listed include several Pocahontas and Fonda residents. The ladies aid and brotherhood conclude the report.

Christmas party at St Peter's Lutheran Church
St Peter's Lutheran Church will sponsor its annual Christmas party for members in the church parlors Sunday evening December 15 at 7 o'clock. Funeral services for Miss Anna Pechan were held December 6 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Bernard H Stegge, 95, died December 2 and his funeral was December 5 at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. He and Mary Posakony married in 1888 and lived in Pocahontas area. James Grocery moved into the former S and H Motor building. The SS Peter and Paul social society held a December meeting in the parish hall with a rosary recitation and program.

Richard Vosika was welcomed as a new member and given a gift during a luncheon. The gathering featured bingo with the number 500, and attendees enjoyed a meal together. Mrs. James Cain travels to Sioux Falls and then to Tucson to live with her son Father James Cain at Davis Monthan AFB.
