Girls elect captain for high school basketball team
Four decades ago the girls basketball squad met in Miss Sheel's room at 4:00 p.m. to elect their captain with Vera Murray chosen. In a separate note, Leonard Smith celebrated his birthday with six couples at his home. Dorothy Pearce, Leo Rude and Sterling Ritchey visited Laurens, and the boys’ team elected Martin Alexander as captain for the squad.

Licenses To Wed In Pocahontas Iowa Couple
John Donahue and Diana Sue Struthers of Pocahontas Iowa sought a license in a petition that also involved Farm Service Co. of Pocahontas versus Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. The court dismissed the petition with prejudice and issued an injunction mandamus directing more shares of stock and a special stockholders meeting with a special master appointed.

Deer Season Opens in Iowa With First Snowfall
