Funeral services were held at the Rusk Trinity Lutheran church for David Johnston age 82 who died Monday Aug 6 at his home in the community. Survived by seven children including Oscar Johnston Pocahontas and Mrs G A Gruver Havelock. wife predeceased by 1 year and a daughter Mrs Abe Nichols. Survived by many relatives and friends. Floral offerings were profuse.
The obituary extols the deceased’s high esteem among friends and names pallbearers Burt Peterson C J Albrecht Siebert Menkelsen Andrew Peterson Emil Rude and Oscar Johnston. Burial occurred beside his wife in Pocahontas cemetery. Relatives and friends from Farnhamville Silfer Eudora Mo Rolfe Storm Lake Laurens and Pocahontas attended.
Miss Helen Jacobson hosted a six o clock dinner at 620 South Walnut Street Saturday honoring Mrs Pearl Mick of Havelock Iowa. Alderman M M Linton and wife hosted a noon luncheon at South KE L Palso Street for Mrs Mick. Monday tea at 602 North Cooper Street by Mrs L R Talley honored Mrs Mick. Tue dinner at Hotel Broadmoor by Mrs B L Laranch of Denver honored Dwight E Darlington and Mrs Pearl Mick. Due to Mrs Mick's grandfather illness the evening was informal with no dancing.
The Sunnyside Sanatorium will host Mrs Mick as a guest Sunday afternoon before she leaves for Iowa. She recently sang old-time hymns at Sunnyside and at Bethel Hospital’s children’s ward, where she has been a frequent visitor. The Telegraph office force will host a moonlight picnic on South Cheyenne Mountain in her honor.
Charles Hotovee of the Ware area suffered a severe arm injury when tangled in a threshing machine drive belt at the J Jonas farm. The accident at 8 p m last Wednesday left him with an arm amputation above the elbow and a cheekbone fracture. He was treated at Laurens for first aid and then transferred to Mercy Hospital Fort Dodge, where his condition was reported as fair.
A 12 year old patient Bobby Carlton bids farewell to Pearl Yes at Sunny Side Sanatorium Colorado Springs. He praises her cheery words and sweet smile and hopes to renew their friendship in heaven if not on earth.
The Methodist Church, led by Pastor Rev C L Day, invites all to Sunday School at 10:00 and Morning Worship. The interior recently redecorated with a harmonious color blend. Election of Ladies Aid Society officers is set for Thursday Aug 16. The last quarterly conference will be Sept 9. The pastor and wife attended Bible Conference at Spirit Lake and returned Aug 11. All are welcome to worship with us.
