Kirchner 25th anniversary celebrated with open house and family guests across multiple towns.
A family and Mrs. Sadie Ries have moved to Fort Dodge where Mr. Fergen works in an Oldsmobile garage. They sold their home to Leslie Petersons who moved in. The Kleens moved back to their property from a dining house. Mrs. H O Nero of Long Beach left April 12 after visiting relatives in Fort Dodge Laurens Holstein and others. Gene L. Kirchner Navy boiler technician 3/c departs Omaha April 18 after a 30 day furlough with seven months in Japan and duty on the destroyer Floyd B Parks.
Bradgate residents hosted visitors at the Robert Bellis and George Curry homes while neighbors worked on Clark Cooper’s oats. Dennis led field prep with Don Allard Kenneth Dayton and Russell Shiflett seeding and harrowing. Mrs. Cooper, a heart patient at Lutheran hospital, received updates as Sunday callers visited Mrs. Owen Curry and newborn Diane Joyce.
The Naomi Circle met with 12 members and two guests. De votions were led by Mrs. Elmer D Erickson and Mrs Russell Shiflett. Lunch by Mrs. Coe and Mrs. Shiflett. Several visits to Lutheran hospital for James Helferich and Clark Cooper. Eleven baptisms reported at the Methodist church. Birth announced for Gordon Lanning’s granddaughter at Lutheran hospital. Teenage traffic conference arrangements for Bradgate high school delegates Roger Madsen and Glenn Jacobsen. Various visits and hospital stays noted among local families.
Sunday confirmed Emory Andersen Marie Christensen Bruce Colivet Dorothea Fallesen Phyllis Gregersen Dorothy Janssen Karen Madsen Sharon Madsen Thomas Nelson Duane Olson Kenneth Reese Melvin Thorn and Mrs Argin Christensen. Fellowship dinner followed. Easter decorations and spring flowers graced tables.
Joan Madsen of Rutland and Mrs. Margaret Wiuff of Bede spent the evening in the Mrs. N. C. Mad sen home. Mrs. Abbie Olson and others visited in Fort Dodge. Mrs. Frank Marchant and daughter and Mrs. Kenneth Halsrud and children called at the George Curry home to visit Mrs. Owen Curry and baby. Harold Rickleffs and his children of Pomeroy visited grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Van Gorkom on Sunday.
The United States Civil Service Commission announces exams for Bank Examiner trainee and assistant roles with salaries of 3795 to 4205 dollars yearly, nationwide. Tobacco Inspector positions in the Southeastern States pay 3410 to 5060 dollars yearly, no written test, based on tobacco experience, with a practical test after training. Applications for Tobacco Inspectors due by May 4, 1954. Bank Examiner applications accepted until further notice.
The Pocahontas County Cattle Feeders banquet will be at Laurens public school on Wednesday evening April 21. Association president Dwight Aschenbrenner urges reservations by Saturday April 17. Robert E. Hamilton of the Sandhills Cattle Association will be the featured speaker with music and entertainment.
