Mrs Giles Gist and family hosted visitors from Rolfe and Midwest friends. The Ladies Aid met at Oertley home. Mrs Henry Buck and guests attended. The Week featured visits by Shumways, Hendricks, and Baylors, a King's Daughters session, and a large community sale at Miller Hall with bake sale success. Local residents traveled to Pocahontas, Gilmore City, and Mason City events. A Chicago hospital goitre operation for Alta Reents was reported as successful. Boosters and Rebekahs reported community support and fundraising.

Heavy rains last week caused widespread damage with leaking roofs flooded basements and overflowing ditches. A twenty rail-length stretch of C. and N. W. track west of town was washed out, prompting section crews from surrounding areas to repair the unsafe section.
Auxiliary Sponsors Card Party at Legion Hall
The American Legion Auxiliary held a successful card party at Legion Hall on Thursday evening. Progressive 500 provided entertainment. tables were full. Pearl Mick won high in the ladies division, Pearl Cole low. Eugene Waters high among men, W. W. Hilton low. A late lunch of sandwiches, angel food cake, pineapple, whipped cream, and coffee was served by Mrs. Harold Shimon, Mrs. Lewis Hawk, and Mrs. R. C. Cole.

The Pocahontas County Board met in regular session with members O Keefe Melson Ferguson Fischer Hudek present. Appointed Wendell Kennedy as justice of the peace for Lake township and set bid time for gasoline lumber for 1983. Appointed three members for apportionment boards for secondary road districts and established Road Districts No. 74 and 75 with detailed fund allocations and motions adopted.
