Robi E. O'Brian president of Morningside College gave a sermon at a Rolfe Methodist church on the historical quest for happiness. He traced virtue from Socrates to Christian philosophers and urged balancing knowledge with practical virtue. The O'Brian family stayed with Randall Melson and were hosted by H. D. Brinkman and Rev. T. S. Bassett during a weekend visit.
John Edward Schnug born in Gesburg Jasper County Iowa on Apr 6 1858 died Mar 21 1988 in Storm Lake age 84. He married gah A King in 1882 and lived on farms in Jasper then Pocahontas Emunity Rolfe and later in Dows and Storm Lake. Survived by siblings and four children plus four grandchildren. Funeral at Rolfe Methodist Church with burial in Clinton Garfield Cemetery.

The Pocahontas County Sunday School Association will hold its fifty third annual convention in Rolfe on Thursday April 6 beginning at nine oclock in the morning. Notable addresses include Gods Educational Program by O G Herbrecht Walter Hut ton speaks on Objectives in Christian Education Speak to My People That They May Go Forward by Rev P C Larsen and One in Christ by Rev J A Kettle. Visitors are asked to bring covered dish and sandwiches for the noon luncheon. A fifteen cent luncheon will be served at 6:00 p m for those staying for the evening session.
The Presbyterian church Christian Endeavor Society presents the three act comedy What About Betty by Walter Richardson at the Ritz Theatre Friday evening April 7. Direction by Frances Donica with cast including Jean Wiegman Harold Hoard Billy McIntire Norton Ives Gordon Hoard Elwood Olerich Billie Brinkman and Misses Gyla Shriner Jean Pollock Frances McIntire Mary Seaman Grace McEwen Janice Wiegman. Admission is ten cents.

Contestants compete in devotional readings, dramatic stories, or original reports. Rolfe winners advancing are Barbara Melson Stella Mae Brinkman and Donald Davidson.
Wier N. Peterson died at his Rolfe home on Sunday afternoon after several weeks illness. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. J. O. Wangberg officiating and burial in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery. Chris J. Kongshack died at his Rolfe area home after a brief illness of pneumonia. Mrs F. E. Beers, pioneer resident of the area, died at her Gilmore City home aged eighty six, mother of Mrs Randall Melson of Rolfe.

Mrs. Wheeler, secretary of the local W C T U unit and county unit, accompanied the group. Committees of three per county were named to lead the local campaign with Rev. Carlson chosen president of the Pocahontas committee, Mary Campbell of Gilmore City as Pocahontas county unit president, and Rev. J. A. Kettle of Pocahontas named as member of Carlson's committee.
