Roland juniors sophomores and seniors sweep basketball games while Story City prevails 27 16 over Roland in a county tournament. The issue also notes school music contests and Washington program by Shakespearian Society with multiple student performers.
Reporters Ozelle Ose Myrtle Henry son Anna Johnson and Arthur Sande note a Valentine box on February 14 with many valentines. Seven new records set. Mona Earl and Jeanette Gibson with parents moved to town. Lincoln’s birthday observed February 12. A new sanitary drinking fountain installed. Six weeks tests end this week. Basket social planned March 7 at Thorson’s schoolhouse. Ozelle Ose writes a sixth grade composition. An airplane ride story: Bervin and Marjorie spend birthday money on a trip that ends with a windy misroute, landfall after hours, message for help, and return home deciding to wait longer for another ride.
A list of candidates announces runs for Story County offices in Iowa including Supervisor Recorder Auditor Treasurer County Attorney Sheriff and related officials. Names include OSCAR Tweet, Hattie Fowler, Byron Dickey, G H Ludwig, Earle Smith, Frank Buck, Jeffrey Hougen with primaries in June 1930s and locations Nevada Ames McCallsburg.
Lorene Oostwedt enters the third grade coming from a rural school near Roland. Milford and Julies Cole of the sixth and seventh grades are leaving school this week. Pearl Henderson has been attending school in the seventh grade.
Florence Quam and Lucille Olson started school on Monday. The lower grades create Dutch scenes for their sand table. A box social is planned for Friday.
On the evening of March 7 the program includes lunches and coffee for attendees. Everyone is welcome to join.
