Sugar Campaign Opens At Local Factory
The sugar factory whistle marks 1907 08 campaign starting Monday at 7 am. Last year’s run began in September and closed in February. Beets in sheds are slightly smaller than prior years but are very fine and promise good sugar yield. Beet deliveries will rise as cantaloupe demand falls, boosting labor demand for months.
Retiring Rocky Ford pastor bid farewell with social send off
Reverend F. K. Monenvack preached his last sermon to the Rocky Ford M E church after three years of service marked by harmony and support. A Tuesday night social send off featured local pastors and singing by Eva Green and Roy Elser as Rev. Potashinsky arrived to welcome the incoming pastor.
