Fatally Burned Child in Night Marshal Owens Home
A three year old girl of Night Marshal William Owens on North Fifth Street was fatally burned after her clothing caught fire while playing with matches on the lawn. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames by her mother and others, the child died three hours later from nerve shock. Mrs Owens suffered significant burns while fighting the fire. Lightning Deaths Kill Two Mexicans at Reservoir Hill
A Sunday storm killed Santos Martinez and Ignacio Lara, two Mexican residents of an adobe shack at the west end of Reservoir Hill. Coroner Burr ruled the deaths caused by lightning after examining the scene where the man lay outside the doorway and the woman inside. The victims, destitute, were turned over to Undertaker Cook of La Junta for burial under county arrangements.

Funeral for W N Randall Held in Rocky Ford
The funeral for William Nelson Randall was held at his Linth street home with Rev. W S Davenport and the Masonic order conducting services. The procession to Valley View cemetery included the Templars and Eastern Star, with many mourners from towns along the valley. Randall, born 1863 in Goshen Connecticut, was a civil engineer and surveyor who helped develop irrigation canals in Colorado and served on local and state offices. He leaves a widow and three children.
