Fatal kerosene mix ignites to fatally burn carpenter

James Weir, a West Washington avenue carpenter, was fatally burned when he mistakenly grabbed a gasoline can instead of kerosene. The explosion and flames damaged the kitchen, spread to a pantry, and trapped him. he died about 2 pm after treatment at Pollock hospital. His wife suffered burns while tending him. The funeral is set for Friday under Masonic auspices.

Death of Vescelus Twin From Whooping Cough

The remaining Vescelus twin died from whooping cough after the death of the other twin reported last week. The child passed on Sunday night and funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at the family home with Rev Potashinsky officiating. The bereaved parents recently moved from Rocky Ford and grieving grandmother Mrs GC Vescelus, formerly of South Bend Ind, resides with her niece Mrs J M Kelsay.

The Woman's Club Meeting Recap and Next Host

The Woman's Club met with Mrs. Wietzer on Saturday December 28. Mrs. Cunningham read Wagner's Tannhauser. Miss Garkley played Tannhauser March and Mrs. Van Buskirk sang Evening Star. Next meeting hosts Mrs. Van Buskirk on January 11 with a special program and full attendance urged.

Arkansas Valley Association of the Deaf forms in Rocky Ford

The Arkansas Valley Association of the Deaf organizes with twelve members led by President W. B. Rosson and Secretary T. Y. Northern. Pure Springs Water Comes to Town on Pipe Line

Major Fosdick and partners of Pure Springs Water Co inspect a Fowler pipeline delivering water to the town limits. A stand pipe near the Santa Fe tracks awaits clearance of any deleterious matter before selling spring water in tank lots. They plan to work with the city council to run the line through town and place the stand pipe in a convenient nearby position.

U A Club Sees New Year In With Social Evening

The U A Club a neighborhood circle south of town held a New Year’s Eve gathering at Mrs J C Ginter’s home a surprise for president Mrs Ginter who is moving away. Members welcomed 1908 with a festive mood and the refrain good digestion waits on appetite.
