Former Kansas residents gathered at K P hall for the ninth annual reunion to renew friendships and recall pioneering days. The program featured speeches by A C Sloan and others, readings, recitations, and songs celebrating Kansas and its leaders, with notes on grasshoppers and prohibition and remarks on Colorado.
Rev W B Harter formerly of Lead South Dakota has been called to lead the Rocky Ford First Christian Church succeeding Rev Nelson. At about 35 he preached his first sermon to the congregation last Sunday and impressed many with his Ralph Connor like service in a Black Hills mining community. He expressed pleasure with the new field and noted the crowd of Americans looked good after dealing with foreigners in his prior posting.
The Rocky Ford Tribune defends Lyon & Coggins by stating their headquarters remain in Rocky Ford with an Elm Avenue office. The clipping misreports a move to Holly, which the Holly Chieftain refutes, noting their 500 acre cantaloupe venture under a new Rocky Ford league. Special to the Chieftain Doyle Feb. 2 Progress is reported at Camp Rednour in Gunnison County Colorado. The camp lies near a deep horseshoe canyon with rich schist veins and quartz pockets carrying gold values from 2 to 12 dollars per ton. Major properties include the Kentucky Mines and Milling Company Manzanola eleven near by claims and the Santa Fe Mines and Milling Company Pueblo with eleven claims. Additional groups include the Jumbo claims and the Brian? Chief group led by Denver owners. Assays run from 13.60 to 56.00 with traces of cobalt nickel and vanadium. Geological structure shows veins crossing Ohio City Camp Kentucky Tomichi Dome with favorable access to Doyle and Watinlta Springs.
