Washington April 16 the Supreme Court ruled on cases about divorce decrees granted in one state and judged valid nationwide only if the couple had a legal residence in that state or if both spouses were domiciled there. Atherton v Atherton Bell v Streitwolf involved New York and Kentucky and North Dakota. decisions held the Kentucky decree valid where proper notice occurred and domicile existed, while the others were invalid due to no domicile in the granting state. Justice Gray wrote the majority with dissent by Justice Peckeham in Atherton.
