City School Board Adopts Revised Start Times

The city school board met Tuesday evening and set new opening times at 8:30 a m and 1:15 p m to end the day by 3:30 p m, adjusting the schedule to improve the afternoon session.

The Spencer county annual teachers institute began Monday at the M E church with about 160 teachers enrolled by Tuesday evening. Grocery Store Changed Hands in Florentine

Mr A E Stewart of Cannel ton Ind has purchased the stock of Groceries known as the American Grocery of Florentine Fishback. Mr Fishback retires after twenty five years service. Stewart took charge Wednesday. Wm G Minor of Can nelton has been here this week in charge of the business for Mr Stewart.

Hitner Mortgage Case Decided in Spencer Court

The Hawk Hitner suits tried by special Judge F J Reinhard were decided with judgment for Mary Hitner on note and mortgage. The court awarded 1613.19 dollars, ordered mortgage satisfied and property sold, and quieted title to a life estate in Mary Hitner.

Rockport Wins Third Straight Over Shamrocks

Rockport defeats Evansville Shamrocks 5 to 2 behind pitcher Poole who struck out 13 and allowed only three hits. Cross and Titzer shared catching duties while Shimmett Chapel Washeimer and Cowen posted multiple hits. Teeters umpired as Rockport set to host Jasper next Sunday after a doubleheader with Fair and Newtonville.

Miller and Brown Wed at M E Parsonage in Surprise

Robert Miller and Tina Brown wed at the M E parsonage with Rev. E H Boldrey officiating. They left by 12 30 car for Evansville and Mammoth Cave Kentucky for a few days and will reside in Rockport where Miller works in the ferry business with his father.

Rockport lumber warehouse fire causes $20000 loss

The Rockport Box Manufacturing warehouse burned last Tuesday night destroying a large stock of dressed lumber with an estimated $20,000 loss. Firefighters confined the blaze to the building and nearby stacks, with about two thirds insured. A small shed at the strawboard plant also burned. The cause is unknown.

Spencer Circuit Court Week in Review at McAdams Case

The Spencer circuit court convened last Monday with Judge Rosco Kiper. Sheriff Joseph McAdams and Bailiff James Fagin handled duties as cases were heard. Mary Hitner sued John Hawk on a note and mortgage foreclosure. special judge F J Reinhard presided, awarding the plaintiff $1,613.19 and quieting title to real estate in Mary. In Woodruff versus Adeline Carter, partition action, judgment favored the defendant.

Poultry Thief Strikes Hennery of Rev Gross

A chicken thief visited Rev L W Grosss hennery last Saturday night and carried off every feathered bird except one hen that escaped. Gross owned a prized flock of white Plymouth Rocks and has halted poultry selling for the time being.

Improving Landing At Main Street For River Traffic

Electric road officials install a stairway at the main street landing to ease passenger access from the river to the traction depot. A wide rock walkway will connect the stairs to the water edge as passenger flow grows.

Change of Venue Granted in Parrish Bank Wreckers Case

Special Judge Kelley heard the motion for a change of venue in the Parrish bank wreckers case at Owensboro and granted the change. The Parrish brothers’ cases are sent to Hancock county court for trial, likely on November 9. The application of T S Anderson for a venue change was denied.
