Dr W A McCarty formerly of Owensboro Kentucky and arrested in Evansville was brought to Rockport on bogus check charges. He paid back funds to Rockport residents then went to Boonville where he passed a six dollar bad check on a solicitor for The National Horseman posing as Dr Boyce of Louisville. Local Rockport attendees recognized him and hotel staff were warned. He evaded arrest and fled the town.

The annual reunion of Spencer County’s old soldiers will take place at Richland City on Thursday September 14. Rock Fort and nearby veterans will ride the $24 car to Richland City and be greeted by camp fire girls with flags leading them to the grove. Judge Roscoe Kiper of Boonville will give the main address with additional talks. Dinner is served on site and Richland City hosts promise a grand entertainment.
