Secure Farm Banks Move Spurs Indiana Hearings

Indianapolis hosts a September 22 public hearing in the statehouse to decide on locating one of twelve federal land banks in Indiana under the rural credits law. Luke W. Duffy and the Indiana Real Estate Association push for a Hoosier bank with strong state representation and rural interests to gain loans for drainage, fertilization, equipment, and stock. Dr McCarty Works Boonville Fraud Run

Dr W A McCarty formerly of Owensboro Kentucky and arrested in Evansville was brought to Rockport on bogus check charges. He paid back funds to Rockport residents then went to Boonville where he passed a six dollar bad check on a solicitor for The National Horseman posing as Dr Boyce of Louisville. Local Rockport attendees recognized him and hotel staff were warned. He evaded arrest and fled the town.

Soldiers Reunion for Spencer County Held at Richland City

The annual reunion of Spencer County’s old soldiers will take place at Richland City on Thursday September 14. Rock Fort and nearby veterans will ride the $24 car to Richland City and be greeted by camp fire girls with flags leading them to the grove. Judge Roscoe Kiper of Boonville will give the main address with additional talks. Dinner is served on site and Richland City hosts promise a grand entertainment.

Will of Hancock Recorded in Chrisney Probate List

The will of Hancock, late resident of Chrisney, was recorded Saturday. It directs that all realty be sold and the proceeds distributed among her children. The document appears incomplete with several garbled words.

Grass Township option election approved by county board

County commissioners in a three day session approved a local option election in Grass township for September 28 after finding over 20 percent of voters signed the petition. Inspectors of registration for multiple townships were named, a highway petition and levee projects were discussed, and a $500 reward for Lockhart’s capture was ordered paid by Sheriff Barton.
