Peddicord Wins First Prize in Little Rock Essay Contest

Mary Ruth Peddicord daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Peddicord formerly Newtonville won first prize $56 in cash in an essay contest held by the Flame Life and Accident Insurance Company at North Little Rock High School The contest was open to all high school students in the state and fourth prize went to Sam Cattrill graduate of this year's class.

Benjamin F Hyatt dies after heart trouble in South Bend

Benjamin F. Hyatt, born March 19, 1841 in Mount Vernon Ohio, died Monday June 19 at his sons home in South Bend Indiana. A Civil War veteran of the 19th Ohio Infantry Company A, he married Fannie Wells of Alvo Nebraska on April 1, 1894. He is survived by his widow two daughters Orpha Dickeson and Hazel Russell two sons and four grandchildren.

Will of Mary Wahl Bequeaths All Remaining Property

Mrs. Mary Wahl of Dale dies at 71 after weeks of illness. The will dated May 3, 1922, leaves John Wahl the Dale lot across from the Wahl hotel, with the remaining estate divided equally among John Louis Fedalia Edward Emma Lena and excludes no one. Executors are John and Louis Wahl. witnesses were Hubers Heidelbech Wedeking. Funeral held June 26 at Dale Catholic church with burial at St Joseph cemetery.

Miss Armore R Poole and Francis X Kersteins were quietly married at five o clock Thursday morning June 29 at St Bernard's Catholic church. Rev Timothy Kavanaugh officiated. Only immediate relatives attended. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry J Poole. The groom is son of Mr and Mrs Henry Kersteins. They will reside with Mrs Kersteins' parents on Third street.

Rockport Post Office Exam Recalled Amid Election Tensions

The Rockport post office job exam scheduled for July 8 was recalled. Officials say the election in November and Republican opposition reduce chances for Postmaster appointment. The note honors World War soldiers and urges congressional and appointing authorities to act with regard to veterans.

Sheriff Albert C. Hargis led a twelve man posse to Lincoln City to guard a local mine and deter potential clashes after reports that striking coal miners planned an attack on non union workers. The miners did not appear.
