J C Kellams formerly of Spencer county died Wednesday noon in a Kansas City hospital at age 69. Surviving sons Rupert Lester Roy Ed Walter live in Kansas Iowa Chicago and Kansas City. Funeral services will be at the church near the home farm with burial in the local cemetery.

Mary Steele sang several pieces with dance tableaux, Alice Mason played two piano numbers, Aura Martin performed in Indian costume, and Lucille Richards read and danced. Mrs Be F Wohler accompanied and Mrs CD Ehrman directed.
Janelia Thurman and Laird Schoenfeld wed at the Thurman home on Walnut Street in a quiet 8:30 pm ceremony officiated by Rev. Guy V. Hartman. The couple, both Rockport High graduates, plan to live at the Schoenfeld home on South Sixth Street.
Rev Timothy Kavanaugh of St Bernard s Rockport was transferred last week to Brounsburg Indiana. Rev Andrew J Bastnagel of Chrisney moved last Saturday to Rockport. He will head the Rockport and Chrisney exrnclic churches in charge.
A small blaze at the Occidental café on Main Street caused slight damage when gasoline fed by Sheldon Snyder ignited as he filled the coffee urn. The incident occurred around seven o clock Wednesday evening.
Announcements report the marriage of Miss Mary Ellen Bird of Waterloo Iowa to Mr Ray G Garxalant, set for June 30 in Cedar Rapids Iowa. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs A B Bird formerly of Rockport on the Grandview road.

Miss Martha Helen Roetzel of Boonville is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Guy H Walker and family.
Mr and Mrs Charles Darneal left their car Tuesday afternoon for Louisville Kentucky to attend the death of Mrs Mollie Brumbach an aunt to Charles. Brumbach was 79 years old and died Monday night of heart trouble. The funeral was held Thursday morning.
Three Rockport Hoosiers defeated the Dale pall team last Sunday afternoon at Dale. The game ended with a 6 to 4 score.
John M. Fox, a respected citizen, died at 12 30 a m Wednesday at his Walnut Street home. The cause was neuralgia of the heart after a one day illness. He was 69 and moved to Rockport from a Midway area farm over three years ago. He is survived by his wife. Funeral services set for two o'clock Friday afternoon.
Picnic parties from Indiana and Kentucky frequent the Robert V. Miller park on the Kentucky shore opposite Rockport. On July 4 the Rockport ferry had its biggest day, transferring cars from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. with up to four cars on the barge at once. ferrymen worked four hours overtime.

The tourist camp near the bluffs will be completed by week’s end with electric lights and water installed. Seats a shelter shed and a large furnace are in place and being finished this week.

Mrs Tommie Ellis aged 22 died Monday of last week in a St Louis hospital after an appendicitis operation a year ago. Funeral and burial services were held last Wednesday in St Louis. She is survived by her husband, the son of Mr and Mrs Tom Ellis of Rockport.
Patrick H. Axton, an undertaker from Richland, opens a new establishment in the Dempsey building on Main Street Rockport while retaining his Richland facility.
