Jone ses Write From Washington Christmas Visit

The Jone ses describe Christmas Eve at the Capitol in Washington with two 60 foot trees, 1200 lights, Marine Band music, and tableaux of Mary and Joseph, the wise men, angels, and the birth of Jesus. Spy scouts with a large flag signal dispersal as the Star Spangled Banner plays. Christmas services begin at 6:30 a.m. and a Cinderella matinee features 17 girls performing fancy dancing.

Stage revue features costumed national pairs and Uncle Sam

The performance presents pairs in nation themed costumes with one as a boy. Little John Bull and Miss Brittani receive some applause while Uncle Sam and Miss Columbia draw the loudest cheer as the finale. The tale follows a hero conquering foes to win Cinderella.

Miss Susie Richey Injured in Ice Fall

Miss Susie Richey fell on an icy portion of ground last Sunday morning between the wrist and elbow and fractured the bones of her left arm. She had just alighted from a Grandview car at stop 52 and was en route to a relative’s home when the accident occurred. Several hours passed before she realized the arm was broken and she endured severe pain.

Mrs Catherine Beeler Dies at 71 in Grass Township

Mrs Catherine Beeler aged 71 died Wednesday of last week at her son Fred Beeler’s home in Grass township after a paralysis onset on Friday. Funeral from Shiloh church conducted by Rev A Haliwell, Baptist pastor. she was a member. Survived by five sons Joe Fred Arthur of Denver Cole Worden James of Neosho Mo and daughter Mrs James Kirkland.

Former Rockport Woman Dies Suddenly in Chickasha

Mrs. Mary Frank died last Saturday night at her Chickasha home due to heart trouble. A Pattonville Rockport resident in earlier years, she became a noted businesswoman in Chickasha with substantial western town property. Survived by daughter Mrs. Mabel Dekinder and husband Houston Frank. burial held in Chickasha last Monday.

Farce and Grand Opera Open New Year at Wells-Bijou

The Evansville Wells-Bijou opens the year with A Pair Of Sixes featuring an all star cast for Sunday January 3. The San Carlos Grand Opera Co plans a 100 member ensemble with 20 famous operatic stars performing Rigoletto Faust Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci on Tuesday and Wednesday with a double bill. Courts To Conclude Six Week Term With Many Divorces

The circuit court opens a six week January term with nine divorce cases pending where wives sue for divorce. Fifteen personal injury suits and thirteen promissory note actions appear on the docket alongside a will contest and several probate matters. Jurors are drawn for the term, including H. P. Biedenkopf and Chas. Salm among others, with Catherine Conner suing Thomas Connor for divorce over claims of cruelty and drunkenness.

Young Farmers Contest At Ohio Township Institute

The Ohio township farmer's institute will meet at Armory Hall in Rockport under Purdue University auspices on January 18 and 19. Local speakers will run day one with Purdue lecturers R. L. Thompson and Mrs. Olives Cline in charge on day two. Contests reward boys 10 to 18 and girls to 16 for bread making needlework and related crafts. About 125 dollars in premiums have been pledged by local business people.

Will of Mrs Julia Garbrough Bequeaths Estate to Daughter

The will of Julia Garbrough of Chrisney is on record with Clerk Woolfolk. She leaves all property to her daughter Maggie Franzman for life, with her children to inherit thereafter. Made December 2, 1913, it was witnessed by R T Grigsby and David Beren. Franzman is named sole administrator without bond.

Local Grower Plans Pecan Tree Reduction and Graft Sales

A local grower states plans to cut down pecan trees in the area to eight first place trees for budding. He reports about four hundred young trees from grafts last season and expects to market them next year.

Soldier's Home Veteran Samuel Williamson Dies

Funeral services were held for Civil War veteran Samuel Williamson at Shiloh M E Church Marion Indiana. Williamson served in Co E 49th Indiana and is survived by two sons and a daughter Mrs Rebecca Leamison. Other local notes mention Miss Eutha Kopp visiting Depauw University, Mrs Mary Garlinghouse visiting Owensboro Kentucky, and Ada Niblack traveling to Vincennes after a relative's death.
