Dr and Mrs Jx C Atchison entertained the Married Club at their Walnut street home with a seven o'clock dinner followed by cards. Christmas greens and flowers decorated the house with a mistletoe centerpiece and Christmas tapers. Guests included Mr and Mrs Arnett Richards Dr and Mrs C O B Ehrman Mr and Mrs L C Smith Mr and Mrs J G Baum Mr and Mrs R A Dempsey Jr and Mrs Louis Wiener Mr and Mrs Ashcraft.
The Rockport merchants held their annual opening day last Thursday with Christmas displays and crowds from across the county. Stores offered souvenirs and a variety of gifts including house traps, calendars, handkerchiefs, coat hangers, stockings, wish baskets, vanity cases, costumes, and a washing machine.
A traction car struck an automobile carrying John Obermeier and his brother at 1:50 Tuesday afternoon near the Bird crossing north of the city. Both occupants were unharmed but the car was wrecked. The Obermeiers were en route to town from Grand View.
A large barn on the Charles Hoffman farm in Willow Pond was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. Loss estimated at about five thousand dollars with two thousand insured. The farm had been recently purchased by Mr. Hoffman from Jas. T. Parker.
The Friday Nite club will gather this Friday evening at the home of Miss Lillie Peckinpaugh. Mixissie Markland leads the group and the session will study modern British poets.
Tivnest Link of Luceiuwnenip suffered a severe injury last Monday when his right hand and forearm were mangled in a corn shredder, resulting in amputation near the elbow.
Mrs Benny Berry Wier of Owensboro was the guest Wednesday of Miss Jessie Markland.
Joe Brown came home Wednesday after a hunting trip in Louisiana. The report notes his return and the trip location.

Truman O. Partridge of Seattle arrived for a visit with his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Partridge. He traveled by river steamer down the Atlantic coast from Seattle past San Francisco and Mexico through the Panama Canal to Jacksonville Florida and then by rail to Rockport.
George Stuteville aged 75, driver for W. A. and MM Varuidiye, had a hand badly crushed last Monday while loading shingles at the Seminary building. His hand was caught between the wagon and wall. He is recovering but will be unable to work for several months.
George Tribos celebrates his 14th birthday on a Wednesday. Mr Hibbs has run the Hibbs cafe in Rockport for 48 years, arriving in the town as a journeyman printer in youth.
The Missionary societies of United Brethren Baptist and Christian churches were entertained last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. James Snyder on Wim street.
The Farmers Short Course opened at 1:30 with men meeting at Richards & Kincaid garage to discuss the ideal dairy cow while women meet at the auditorium to discuss meat canning. Speakers like W A Ostrander and Miss Boston cover soil, lime needs, dairy cow anatomy, and farming practices including legume hay and soybean rotation for soil health.
Spencer County Strawberry Growers Association organized last Saturday afternoon at the courthouse. Seven growers attended Claude Richards Luce Township was elected president and W H Squier Ohio chosen secretary. Additional berry growers in the county noted. Next meeting set for December 24 in County Agent Jackson’s office.
The Literary department of the Woman's club met at Mrs. James Rimstidt's home with Mrs. George Steitler leading. Christmas stories were given by Mrs. Nelle Wiener Mrs. K C Atchison and Mrs. Fred Heuring. Mrs. J H Diehl read the Bible story of Christ child birth. A Victrola program of Christmas magic followed. Next meeting at Mrs. Wiener's Main Street home.
The Missionary Society of the Baptist church held a gathering last Sunday afternoon at Mrs. Prentice Thurman’s home. Mrs. J. C. Atchison presided and Mrs. Albert Liarcis conducted the program. Members discussed China topics and shared Christmas candies and cakes. Refreshments were served to members and guests including Rev Welt Burns of Louisville, Kentucky, Ralph Barney, and E. Laroe.
The Traice Musicale held a meeting at Mrs John Fuerster's Fourth Street home. After the business session Miss Feigel read a paper on the origin and meaning of Christmas carols and carols were sung by the members.
Mrs Elmer Van Cleve of Greencastle is expected Monday to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Charles Fay until after Christmas.
