Hospital launch drive discussed at Saturday meeting

Hospital committees met in V F W club rooms Saturday night to plan a Rock Valley hospital drive. Finance chair Charles Kapira urged volunteers to organize fundraising groups and begin an all out effort to secure funds.

Funeral services for Harry Kessler held Saturday

Funeral services for Harry Kessler, 74, former Rock Valley resident, were held Saturday at St Chrysostom church in Canton South Dakota after a lingering illness. He died Thursday at Canton Inwood hospital. Surviving wife Susan and five stepchildren are named along with three half sisters and two half brothers. Burial was in Canton. Local attendees from Rock Valley included Frances Ver Mulm and family, Ted Hamann and son Steven, Lawrence Amit and Esther Buckley, Robert Moller and Herman Graves families.

Smith elected in light school vote Monday

Results of the Monday school board election show Judson Smith winning with 46 percent of votes. The incumbent board member was unopposed. County board results list Marinus Intveld with 28 votes and Donald De Groot with 18 votes, recorded on Friday, September 17.

Cliff Moore Undergoes Hand Surgery After Saw Accident

Clifton Moore sustained a severe hand injury while operating an electric saw at Farmers Lumber Company. Taken to Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, he had surgery the same night. his hand and arm were casted, the bone and tendon in his thumb were cut, with hopes all fingers will be saved. He returned home Sunday night with Mr and Mrs Joha P Collenbaugh.

Leo Frembgen Dies at Hartley

Funeral services for Leo Frembgen 85 a former Rock Valley resident were held at Hartley in St Josephs Catholic church. He was born May 6 1500 in Rock Valley the son of Mr and Mrs John Frembgen. He moved to Hartley at age two to work in plumbing and married Agnes Marie Zinn January 6 1926 in Hartley. They had three children and survivors include his wife Agnes and children in Cedar Rapids La Porte City Iowa and Harley. Two sisters and a brother in Rock Valley plus Gerrit Gerritsen of Oakdale Calif visited during his stay.

Sunday School fall rally at Northwestern College Oct 12 14

Dr O Bannion Dies in Canton After Illness

Dr Harold G Banion longtime Canton physician osteopath died Tuesday evening at his daughter Mrs Herb Olson’s home in Excelsior Milwaukee after a heart attack. He had sought treatment in Rochester and collapsed en route home. Funeral services set for Friday at 2:00 from the Lutheran church in Canton.
