The high school enrollment reaches 2377, up from 229 last year, while the grade school remains at 477 students. Kindergarten through twelfth grade show varied counts with minor fluctuations.
Open High School Year Marks Start of 1968 69
The General Assembly opened the 1968 69 school year at 9 00 a m on Monday August 26 with two speeches by Mr Liaboe RVHS principal welcoming students and teachers Pam Buch Student Council president led the Pledge of Allegiance and Mr Van der Schaaf led the assembly in prayer A speech by Mr George Van Heek school board president announced no dress rules and student attire would be left to personal choice The assembly ended with a school song and students received handbooks and locker assignments marking the new year

Art Class Adds New Curriculum At RVHS
RVHS expands its curriculum with a new art class for freshmen through seniors. The class meets in room 3-C, runs daily in fourth period, and focuses on drawing and observational studies. Future plans include more media and possible two sections and student art exhibits.
Twenty Three Girls Vie for Cheerleader Roles
Twenty three senior high girls compete for six cheerleader positions with three from seventh grade and three from eighth grade. Tryouts require a group of four, a GFW cheer, and three jumps including the scissors and spread eagle.
