English Sparrows and Fire Sparks Alarming Barn Fires
A group of men in a car passed a barn while carpenters worked and a lit cigarette stub was dropped. An English sparrow picked it up and carried it to a nest under the barn eaves, where a sparrow flicked away the potential fire as carpenters extinguished the flames. A similar incident was reported in Haarkeve Frty. Edward Walton’s barn also caught fire after a motorist flicked a lighted cigarette, with a laborer scurrying up to stop the blaze.
