Manpower Questionnaires Roll Out in Sioux County Survey

Residents across Sioux County and nearby areas will soon receive manpower questionnaires as part of the Sioux County Area Resources Survey and Manpower Study. Stan De Haan urges everyone aged 16 or older to fill and return them using the postage paid envelope. The 1966 survey informed new industry growth, and 9,066 packets are being mailed to dozens of towns with three questionnaires each.

Award To Sioux F B Women’s Chorus

Three county Farm Bureau women’s choruses were recognized at the Iowa Farm Bureau women’s business meeting in Des Moines during the annual convention. Keokuk won first prize of 38 dollars, Sioux was second with 25 dollars, and Alamzkee took third with 15 dollars for chorus participation based on Farm Bureau membership and performance. Awards also honored winning skits about Iowa Farm Bureau or the 1972 women’s program.

Northwestern Red Raiders earn Tri-State title and letters

The Northwestern Red Raiders football team claimed the Tri-State Championship with a 6-3 conference record. Coach Larry Korver awarded 46 letters to the squad. Linebacker Lary Meandering, a 5 19, 170 pound junior, earned his second letter, while Dave Reinke, 6 3, 208 pound junior quarterback and tight end, received his first. Both played for Rock Valley under coach Charles E. Danish.

Dam Calf Mishap Causes 750 Dollar Loss Near Rock Valley

A calf struck a 1976 Mustang two miles east of Rock Valley on Highway 48 Sunday night, causing about 750 dollars in damages. The car owned by Steven Atkins of Inwood sustained fatal calf injuries. Atkins and his wife Linda were uninjured. Police and Town Highway Patrol investigated. calf owner was not yet determined.

Farm Home Info Leads the Nation in FHA Lending

Iowa leads the nation in Rural Housing loans for rental projects in fiscal year 1974 with 94 loans totaling 4,920,560 dollars, 11 percent of national FHA rental funds. Loans went to 57 nonprofit firms. Iowa hosts 232 projects across 86 counties providing 1,345 apartments.

Army Specialist Four Van Grootheest Receives Good Conduct Medal

Army Specialist Four Lawrence V. Van Grootheest, 24, son of Mr and Mrs John Van Grootheest of Rock Valley, earned the Good Conduct Medal near Bamberg Germany. A mechanic in Battery C 1st Battalion 75th Artillery, he was recognized for exemplary conduct and fidelity. His wife Delores resides in Rock Valley.

Tri-State Mission Festival Held at North Western College Orange City

The Tri-State Mission Festival of the Reformed Church of America will take place Friday and Saturday November 26 and 27 on the North Western College campus in Orange City. Registration starts 6 90 pm Friday with fees 3.00 for adults 2.00 for youth under 21 youths from the Milwaukee festival admitted free. Friday features music by the Contemporaries of Wilmar Mian keynote by Dr Arthur Glasser Fuller Seminary California dialogue groups a coffee house and music at 1030 pm. Saturday begins at 9 00 am with Rev Pete Young of Elmdorf speaking workshops dignitaries lead conversations and music by the Messengers Quartet Sioux Falls. A time of commitment closes the festival sleeping facilities breakfast dinner and lunch served Saturday contact parish or registration officials before November 22.

Fire Destroys Nick Van Beek Garage

A fire Saturday noon destroyed a double garage on the Nick Van Beek farm located a mile east and a half south of town. Fire indicates the blaze started from rubbish near the structure. No injuries occurred and autos were moved in time to prevent damage.

Rock Valley junior Dave Reinke and Schaller junior Dale Mc Donough have been elected 1972 North Western Red Raider football co captains. Reinke, a transfer from Augustana, earned All Conference honors and serves as leading flanker and pass receiver and tight end. Mc Donough, a two year letterman, plays defensive cornerback for the Raiders.
