The Rock Valley Bee reports a photo in Saturday Evening Post of Fallig Spring in Fayette county seven miles northwest of West Union. The spring, long noted for scenery, feeds a three foot stream from a rock wall and cascades fourteen feet to the stream bed below.
Andy Mortland of Oskaloosa reports plain talk at Farm Bureau meetings in which a septuagenarian member says every man should spend at least one year doing a woman’s work before marrying. He argues the woman’s role on a farm is no easy task.
During a dog bite scare in Des Moines, victims rushed to receive Pasteur treatment. The regimen requires 13 days of injections, totaling 52 dollars, with injections given on limbs or non muscular areas such as the abdomen. A dog bit 13 people in one forenoon before being captured after moving to Valley Junction.
A tribute to motherhood took place on May 12 at Fort Des Moines with many soldiers’ mothers present after long journeys. Chaplain QO. E. Fisher delivered the address while hundreds of khaki-clad servicemen listened intently as the Fourteenth Cavalry band led a sacred concert.
