Rock Valley Two Car Crash Causes Major Damage
A 5:30 p.m. crash in Rock Valley at the corner of 14th Street and 30th Avenue left a panel truck on its side. Leslie Hansen, driving a 1969 Mustang, failed to yield at a yield sign and caused $1000 damage to his car and $200 to the truck driven by Ray Reinke. Hansen was cited for failure to yield. Reinke was shaken but suffered no serious injuries.

Jan Temps Rhode of Rock Valley reached back to adjust a back seat wardrobe and lost control on 21st Avenue. His 1963 Chevrolet collided with Reuben De Groot's 1964 pickup across the street causing 375 and 120 dollars damage respectively. Rhode was cited for failing to have his vehicle under control.

Thirteen Rock Valley City Council members and Rotary club members toured Iowa Public Service s new 325000 kilowatt plant near Nowber 2. Built for 49 million dollars, the coal fired station will draw Missouri River water and remove 99 percent of smoke with an electrostatic precipitator.

Roorda Plant Expands With 420 Foot Building Addition

Signal Mix-up Triggers West of Rock Valley Car Crash
Four cars were involved one mile west of Rock Valley on Highway 15 Sunday May 7 at 2 15 pm. Steven A Jaycox of Sanborn and Lucia Charette of Sioux Falls were westbound. Jaycox said he signaled a left turn while Charette stated eight signals were on and began to part. Damages totaled 700 to Jaycox's 1869 Ford and 500 to Charette's 1867 Lincoln. Highway Patrolman Bill Miller investigated.

Hudson mayor touts near conclusion to river pollution plan
Hudson Mayor Barry Miller says pollution control plans for the Sig Sioux River are largely finalized after an EPA citation for noncompliance. A bond election for a $96,000 project was held May 31 with funding split 56 percent federal, 25 percent state, and local costs. Hudson must gain bond and land approval by July 1 to avoid EPA court action, with a deadline October 1 to submit plans and begin construction.
