Merchant Marine sailor returns home on furlough after fifth Atlantic run
Lt G g Marion Jacobs of the Merchant Marine arrived home a week ago Tuesday on a thirty day furlough after completing his fifth Atlantic round trip. Other men left Monday April 23 for Fort Snelling Minnesota for preinduction: Clarence Langstrat Richard Ranschau Harald H De Graff Lloyd Gaeyer Raymond Miller Arthur Keaima. The Tuesday Club met Tuesday evening at Mrs Francis McNamara's home for an evening of bridge with prizes won by Mrs FE R Scanlan Mrs Pick Hynes and Mrs Harvey Barnard.

Ten years back Rock Valley public school notices report a drum ensemble earning a superior rating at a music contest.
