Grand Opening Draws 2000 Fans to Farmers Elevator
More than 2,000 visitors toured the new Farmers Elevator Co facilities at its grand opening last Saturday with Owen Mashing praising the turnout. Lunch service ran briskly as over 200 pounds of hamburger and 2,000 buns were consumed, 190 pounds of popcorn popped, and coffee gallons poured. Fort Dodge traveler Gordon Appel was named as the farthest guest. Prize winners announced include A J Hoogendoorn, Arlena Ransehau, Mrs. J Vande Weerd, Mrs. Connie Bakker, and several others for a range of items from electric knives to tool kits and a thermometer.
