Friends Help at P. Koshkie Farm Gather for corn and hay task

Ten men and tractors gathered at the Paul Kasille farm on Tuesday to cultivate 100 acres of corn and beans and mow hay. Paul was sick for a few days. Helpers included Elmer Kooima Richard Roozgaard Dick Roozaboom Leonard Rooza boom Kenneth Bartz Luke Den Boer Alvin Van Den Top Marvin Kaskie Frank Ver Mein and Henry Ver Malm. Mrs Dick Roozaboom Mrs Richard Roozgaard and Ms Gert Den Boer helped with lunch. Community Oil furnished the lunch provisions.

Pam Porter On European Tour With University Group

Sixty two people left New York City last week on two Travel Unlimited sponsored group flights to Europe associated with the University of Iowa Memorial Union. Among the travelers are Pamela Porter and 52 students faculty and staff or their immediate families. Thirteen graduates from the June 9 commencement are included. Flights depart June 15 and June 19 with return dates in August and September, with optional extensions to London and Amsterdam.

Escape Injury As Car Ralls Sunday

An injury accident occurred Sunday at 2:00 p.m. three miles south and one half west of Rock Valley involving a 1887 Mercury driven by James DeKam. The car skidded 200 feet on a washboard gravel road, left the road into a ditch and rolled. a Wielenga boy from California was a passenger. Damages were estimated at 1500 dollars.

Rock Valley Fourth of July festival plans announced

The Rock Valley Commercial Club sponsors a July fourth celebration Tuesday evening with two softball games. At 1:15 p.m. Rock Valley Teachers play Hull, and at 8:30 p.m. local teams compete. Admission is 50 cents for adults, 25 cents for school children, free for under 10. Picnic area at Rock Valley Park offers shade and swimming for families.

Kenneth Callenius Sheldon is in custody after a grand jury indictment following a crash south of Sheldon on March 13. His daughter Jeanene, 9, died and daughter Judy, 8, was seriously injured. Also noted is G E Carpenter, a Clarkeville hog breeder, raising a 975 pound hog.
