Silver Jubilee for Fr. Elias Achatz at St Marys Church

St Marys Catholic Church marked Fr. Elias Achatzs silver jubilee with a 10 am mass concelebrated by Frs. David McGoey Pulgence Prinzing and Gotaventure. A neon dinner followed in St Marys Hall with about 200 attending and a public reception 2 to 5. Frachanz a Rock Valley Class of 1935 graduate attended with classmates. Fr. IPS Kosters Cookout Jamboree at Keevers

The Iowa Public Service Company and Kosters IGA announce a Cookout Jamboree on Thursday June 18 at Keevers. Arlene Rodeen IPS home service representative will conduct demonstrations at 11 am 2 30 pm and 4 pm using the Gharmglow Gas Grill. Rodeen is a 1960 Westmar College home economics graduate. The Farmers Lumber Co annual meeting is set for Monday June 15 at the VFW Hall starting at 7 p.m. Three directors will be elected for three years. The annual report will be presented and a general business discussion held. Lunch tickets will be issued at the meeting.

1500 Big Bullheads Stocked In Pit Area

The Iowa Conservation Department stocked 1500 Big Bullheads in the Weinfeld Seating and Fishing area last Wednesday, according to Sioux County employee Harold Van Berkum, who assisted with the stocking. The bullheads were taken from East Okoboji.

Summer recreation program starts Monday June 15

The summer recreation program begins Monday June 15 at 9 a.m. Registration for those who did not sign up on June 4 is available at 9 a.m. at the community school asphalt area with a $1 registration fee. Rock Valley Scouts Earn Blue Ribbon at Peterson Camp

The Rock Valley Boy Scout troop joined 63 troops and about 800 boys at the Prairie Gold Area Council Spring Camp at Peterson last Friday and Saturday night. The Rock Valley group was one of 12 units to receive a blue ribbon for excellent camp, with leaders George Keizer John Paul Cottenbaugh and Rus Van Betkum accompanying the boys.

They All Jumped Into The Boat at Oxford Dam

Four local fishermen near Oxford Mississippi last weekend tried catching flying fish with paddies along the dam area. They slapped the water to drive fish toward the boat and reported about 20 percent stayed aboard. The April Cancer Drive in Rock Valley raised 475 dollars. Preparations for the Diamond Jubilee in Hudson set for June 16 to 17 with events including a kiddie parade, demolition derby, dances, and parades. Notable attractions include a wedding gown display, porcelain displays, a traveling medicine show, and Charlie Weaver with a band. The Klein Amusement Co will provide rides and attractions.
