Western Christian Homecoming Held in Rock Valley
Western Christian celebrated its fifth annual homecoming on Friday February 16 with the theme On the Warpath to Victory. Alumni chapels led by Rev Ridward Blankespoor and a student variety program preceded royalty selections Hubert Van Tol and Hilene Blackespoor as chief and princess, with attendants Chat Van Zanten Marilyn Van Kley Norm Van Roskel and Lane Quanema. The day closed with a basketball basket social and varsity wins Western Christian 64 58 and junior varsity 68 44 led by Norm Van Roevel and Bill Van Kley respectively.

Community Gil Co Holds Annual Meet
The Community Gil Co held its annual meeting in the VEW Club rooms Monday afternoon. Frank McGill and Vince Stubbe were reelected to three year terms. Anthony Gacke and Gayer joined the board. Holdover directors include Wesley Miller, Arthur W. Klein, Gerrit Harmelink, Ted Ranschau and Ted Dykstra. Clarence Miller announced 1987 patronage dividends at 11 percent of gross sales, and investments in 1867 included a warehouse, Tankwagon and factor.

Two Car Crash Near Roelof State Reported Monday
Officer Tom Deieuin reported a two car accident in Rock Valley on Monday afternoon. Mrs Glen Tilson backed from in front of Roelof State, colliding with John Scholten's car. Damages totaled 173 dollars. No injuries were reported. Tilson received a summons for failure to yield the right of way.

Betterment Council Holds Reg Meeting in Rock Valley
The Rock Valley Community Betterment Council met February 13 1958 at the Red Rock Inn at 7 a.m. Five members were present with Mrs Gene Banch as hostess Dr C J Schroeder chaired. Letters from Creighton University Iowa Dental Assoc and others offered help locating a dentist. An ad in the Iowa Dental Journal for three months was planned. Flood lighting for the U S 75 and U S 18 intersection was discussed but not funded this year. A home rental list was deemed impractical. Mrs Roger De Zeeuw to attend United Appeal Group on Feb 12. New brochures for the city discussed and a special Rock Valley progress report is being printed. Next meeting hosted by Mrs Roger De Zeeuw.

Doon Man Wounded in Hue Vietnam
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mulder Jr. of Doon report their son Cpl. Daniel A. Mulder was wounded February 7 at Hue South Vietnam. He suffered a shrapnel wound to the ankle and was flown to U S Naval Hospital Guam for treatment. Expected hospitalization about six to eight weeks.
