Beginning Sewing Workshop Opens in Rock Valley

Mrs Eleanor add hosts a four session Beginning Sawing Workshop at Saint Marys Church Rock Valley starting Feb 15 with sessions Feb 22 29 and March 7 at 180 p.m. Subjects include fabric patterns alterations and sewing techniques resulting in each attendee making one dress. The course is free and signups are via Mrs Clarence Keegan or the County Extension Office Orange City.

IPS distributes refunds totaling over nine hundred thousand dollars

IPS will distribute refund checks totaling more than 940 000 to about 90 000 firm gas customers in 100 communities served by IPS Public Service Company. Refunds stem from credits by Northern Natural Gas and are based on usage during the November 1964 billing period.

Mavis Kacena among 237 to join Phi Kappa Phi at ISU

Mrs Mavis Kacena daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Bergsma of Rock Valley is among 237 initiates into Phi Kappa Phi at Iowa State University this week. The honor mirrors Phi Beta Kappa and recognizes high scholarship. ISU’s chapter elects the top tenth of eligible graduates and notable faculty.

Riessen and Weizheed win Sommer scholarship for Pacific program

J Riessen from Rock Valley Town and Nadine Weizheed from Fenton Town will join the Sommerschute am Pazifik program in Portland Oregon this summer. They will study intensive German language civilization and culture with German language immersion in and out of class. Local cases include Alvin J Van Voorst of Ireton fined 59 dollars for disturbing the peace and Dean De Jong of Hull fined 10 dollars for a noisy muffler plus costs.

Local Courtroom Dockets Include Multiple Guilty Pleas

Deloar Rozeboom and Glen Allen Gerritson of Rock Valley pleaded guilty in Justice Court to malicious injury and related charges. Marlowe Van Ginke faced entering the highway, with cases moved to district court in Grange City. Other Rock Valley defendants include Duane J. Driesen and David W. Hever for fighting and disturbing the peace, with transfers to juvenile court, and Patricia Elaine Iwen for failure to stop in an accident. Floyd Davelaar plans to relocate to Rock Valley to start a carpentry business.

Adventures of the Great Outdoors film at Rock Valley gym

Hegg Hospital auxiliary sponsors Gordon Eastman’s outdoors show at Rock Valley gym on Tuesday February 20. The program, Adventures of the Great Outdoors, features three films including Tonocent Adventure Trophy Fishing the Far North and Trophy Mule Deer Cross the Snake River. Eastman, a former Disney photographer, presents a two hour wildlife and fishing feature praised by local outdoor writers.

Film On LSD Will Be Shown Here

The First Christian Reformed Church presents a February 14 screening of the film Lsp Losight 64 Insanity at 8:00 p.m. in the Old High School auditorium to educate about LSD effects. Dr. Edwin H. Gerritson Receives One Year Suspended Sentence

Glen A. Gerritson, 29, was given a one year suspended sentence on a charge of malicious damage to a building and fixtures. Police and sheriff’s deputies traced the vandalism to the Say‑a‑Day Laundromat and matched fingerprints. Gerritson pled guilty before Judge Edward F. Kennedy and awaits parole under district probation. The case could have carried five years in prison.
