Vander Velde Family Opens Rock Valley Florist Nursery
Vander Velde and wife plan a February 5 opening for a new floral nursery on highway 18 at Rock Valley’s edge. The block building will house a 16 by 36 flower display shop a 10 by 32 workroom plus rock stock areas and potted plants. Vander Velde, Northwestern College graduate and longtime Rock Valley vocal music instructor, will run the shop with his wife while continuing to teach.

Rites Held for Mrs Teunissen at Rock Valley Church
Mrs Teunissen formerly Florence Terpstra died December 9 at her rural Doon farm home after a long illness. Services were held December 11 at First Christian Reformed Church Rock Valley with Rev Paul Baker officiating Burial was in Valley View Cemetery Rock Valley. Survivors include her widower Jake Tennitsen a son and three daughters. Her parents and several Terpstra siblings are listed plus a grandchild.

RVEA Discusses Negotiations At December Meeting
Rock Valley Education Association met Friday December 7 1973 to review salary negotiations and a state bill due for a February 20 1974 vote. President Hansen urged passage with care while Herlon Vander Schaaf reported on professional rights and responsibilities and a Sioux Center meeting. Insurance plans and a Christmas dinner were also discussed with a plan to analyze current coverage.
