A Rock Valley native, after high school he joined the Marines for a three year hitch but was extended due to Korea. Stationed in California during service, he later worked at Standard Service Station in Sioux Falls and Montgomery Ward. He married Gladys Johnson on August 14 1953 and is active in the Masonic Lodge Commercial Club and Golf Club. The family attends Pioneer Methodist Church and enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, water skiing, boating, and camping. They prepare for Christmas with new color televisions radios and stereos.
