Planting Peonies In September For Best Spring Growth
Plant large peony varieties now to divide or plant new. Use five eye divisions for strong roots, choose full sun with well drained soil, plant buds 1 to 4 inches deep, water deeply after planting, and mulch in early winter to prevent freeze thaw. Consider both old and new varieties and mulch to protect roots. Parsley and chives can be started in pots for winter use indoors.
