The Rock Valley team traveled to Canton Academy for a 4 to 0 loss in cold weather. John Kersbergen pitched well for Rock Valley. Juniors plan a May junior senior banquet while seniors attended an Orange City show. Senior class play The Mummy and the Mumps debuts April 29 and 30 with many named roles. Professor G C Wylie of the state university notes Venus will be visible in daylight over the coming weeks. Best seen around 2 45 pm near the sun, observers should shade eyes and stand in shade. Venus appears in daylight for about six weeks annually. last sighting was January last year.

SLIK salesman fleeces Emmet County officials
A man posing as an advertising solicitor for a labor journal and year book defrauded five Emmet County officers in Estherville of 60 dollars in cash. He claimed to represent the Jews Federation of Labor and solicited payments for political advertisements, targeting recorder, treasurer, sheriff, auditor, and county attorney. Lightning Smashes Large Tree on Linn Grove Farm
A single lightning strike in northwest Iowa hit the Olof Sewalson farm southeast of Linn Grove, destroying a cottonwood nearly two feet in diameter. The trunk shattered into splinters, pieces thrown up to 200 feet, a 15 foot tall stump remained, and two house windows were broken from the concussion felt a mile away.
