Iowa Public Service warns a heat wave could trigger a regional power shortage. The Sioux City generator won’t be ready until July 4, while Cordova near the Quad Cities may run at 25 percent in trials. IPS has a six point plan to cut usage including voltage reductions and 2 hour outage windows, with the 325,000 kilowatt Sioux City unit delayed by blown blower failures.
