Unusual Accident Claims Fire of a Young Canton Girl

Tragedy strikes a Canton family as eight year old Tamera Tene Hill was killed Sunday when a rock Valley Block and Tile structure toppled onto her and cousin Bonnie Vander Kieft, 15, as they played marbles near cement bunkers. Vander Kieft sustained a broken foot while Hill died about an hour later at Hegg Memorial Hospital.

Minor Fire At R V Farm Near Rock Valley

A small blaze struck a hay pile on the Paul Kaskle farm seven miles west of Rock Valley on Saturday afternoon. About 80 to 100 bales of halied hay burned before local firefighters contained the fire. Loss is estimated at roughly $100. The time reported was about 3:15 p m.

Rock Valley High seniors repaint vandalism cleanup drive

Betterment Council Plans Clean-up Day

The Senerment Council met Tuesday morning at the MacMarInn with five members present. An annual Clean-up Day is planned in the near future and residents are urged to participate in cleaning up properties. Area boys ages 9 through 12 may enter the Major League Baseball Pitch Hit and Throw contest sponsored by MLB Phillips Petroleum and local dealers. Dordt College Concert Band to Perform in Sioux Center

Dordt College Concert Band from Sioux Center will headline a program in the Gordt College Auditorium in Sioux Center on Friday April 16 1971 at 6 00 pm. It is the band’s sixth annual concert and will feature students from Rock Valley Ila Vande Kerk and Atte De Ruyter among others as the Dordt group tours through Utah California Arizona New Mexico and Colorado. Rock Valley Voters to Decide $1.2 Million Bond Question

Voters in Rock Valley Community School District face a special bond election on April 28 to approve a $1.2 million bond for building needs. Debt service would total about 5.8 mills annually for 20 years, with estimated annual costs of $15.48 per $10,000 home and 47 cents per acre for farms.
