Resignations of Three Teachers Accepted by School Board

The Rock Valley school board accepted the resignations of Verlyn Sneller Theresa Baker and Kathryn Wadsley who will not return for 1976 77 Sneller will stay locally while his wife Cheryl Sneller remains in her home economics post Wadsley leaves for Wall Lake Iowa and Baker seeks a return to Waterloo The board meanwhile approved April 19 as a make up day for a boys basketball tournament and discussed summer school driver education and a needs assessment study with possible Western Christian high school enrollments

March Rain Recap Skews Above Normal With Snowfall Totals

Local weather observer Larry Van Berkum notes March moisture at 1.6 inches, above the 1.39 inch norm. Snow on March 4 added .43, March 11 added .40, March 24 brought minor coverage, and March 28–29 totals brought the month to .73 inches of moisture. April opens sunny as spring chores begin.

West Side Residents Oppose Gravel Pit Development

Two residents spoke at Monday night’s city council meeting to oppose a proposed gravel pit near the city limits on the west side. They described it as an eyesore and presented a petition against the plan containing names of supporters and opponents.

Sioux City Firm Wins Eight Mile Road Contract

The Irving Jensen Construction Company of Sioux City was the low bidder for an eight mile paving project east of Rock Valley at about 67 000 per mile. The contract covers paving from Rock Valley’s 17th Street towards Doon with work to start late spring. A separate five mile project south of Hull was also awarded to the same firm.
