Washington dispatches report Rear Admiral Sampson in critical condition after a sudden collapse from severe hemorrhages. Doctors say he is failing rapidly and may pass within hours, with alarms raised as he slips into unconsciousness this afternoon.
In The Hague on May 6 the morning bulletin says Queen Wilhelmina had a quiet night. The Queen’s condition is fairly satisfactory though she still requires great care. Lady Clifford and Sir Koessingham remained at her bedside and Baron Clifford stated the fever had not increased and officials awaited a good night’s rest with no immediate cause for concern.
