Chicago verdict finds the defendants not guilty after a 19 hour jury deliberation in the Chicago packers trial. Federal District Attorney Wilker son reacted with tears, jurors cited reasonable doubt and weak government case.
Washington March 26 The fight over Stephenson retaining his senate seat resumed today as lawmakers watch for a possible Lorimer case hearing.
An explosion at Jed Coal Company mine in Jed, West Virginia traps 79 miners. By noon 10 rescued, one dead, leaving 69 miners still believed trapped. Rescue teams work to reach them as costs and casualties rise.

In Muscatine Iowa March 26 poison was found in the Reed family cistern a nonunion button worker Charles Reed blocked a murder plot. Mrs Reed drank the water suffered mouth burns but was saved by prompt antidotes. Authorities failed to capture the poisoners.
Hez Rasco was executed at 6 this morning for the Hubbell family killings on November 20, 1910. A letter to his spiritual adviser, opened after the hanging, thanks them for guidance and ends with a warning to youths to avoid gambling, bad company, and liquor.
Nagasaki reports the death of Bishop Hon da of the Methodist Church of Japan. He was well known in Europe and recognized for his leadership in church affairs.
At Boone High School a Moore Literary Society party led to a racial dispute when two members, a colored student and a white student, flipped coins to decide who would escort a white girl. The escorted girl is from a prominent local family and a scene erupted when a bystander spoke harshly to the colored student.
London March 26 The county of London sessions opened for the trial of 126 women connected with the window smashing raids of March 1 and 4. Judge Wallace sentenced several suffragets to four to six months terms, with some bound over to appear if summoned. Countess Uses the Wireless New York March 24 A wireless from the steamship Olympic reports the Countess of Warwick leaving for England with lecture engagements canceled and others renewed on the eve of her departure.

Federals attacked Hacienda Dolores near Jiminez this morning defending by 1000 liberals. Orozco arrived with reinforcements. A major battle was expected as federal artillery caused heavy casualties among revolutionaries in reports reaching President Madero.
At Indianapolis the Indiana Republican convention backed Taft with four delegates at large to the national convention and elected James E. Watson New Fairbanks Oliver as delegates. Truman era tumult erupted as Taft and Roosevelt factions clashed loudly with chairs raised and voices raised. a minority report alleging fraud was tabled by 772 to 667. A rump Roosevelt convention later chose its own delegates led by Beveridge Landis Lee and Campbell.

Five men died and over twenty were injured in a molten metal blast at the McCormick Works of the International Harvester Company in Chicago. Several victims were reported as fatally wounded.
