Los Angeles March 2 The fourth attempt to wreck a Redondo Beach electric train and plunge it into the ocean failed as a 200 passenger excursion train was stopped by a broken trolley wire that cut current before it hit an obstruction tied to the rails. The train had been traveling 45 miles per hour on an embankment along the sea. Authorities believe a demented man caused the four attempts and are seeking the suspect.

Students Cleared of Peeper’s Death in Iowa Case
Mount Vernon Iowa March 2 four Cornell college students were cleared by a coroner’s jury of all blame for the death of Howard Manning. A bullet fired by one of the students to frighten Manning struck him as he peeped into a girls dormitory window and killed him. The students Owen Lovett Homer Trimbie Paul Busenbark and Albert Andrea had been deputized to watch for a persistent man. Manning climbed a fire escape, ran when confronted, and later died in professor Mills’s yard. Manning’s mother said he was 25 and had recently deserted from the army and returned home.
